AN LYP IMPORTANT NOTE:

Whether or not you decide to use Love Your Pet, we would like to share some pertinent information regarding pets. A sad and increasing form of animal cruelty is pet abduction. Many of today's pets are stolen for use in animal laboratories, puppy mills, dogfights, bait, or torture. The abductor makes this a full-time job, searching for animals left alone, since they get paid for each animal brought in. Don't let your pet be a victim to this atrocity! Keep pets inside, DO NOT leave him tied to a post while you "run into" a store, and always make sure your pet wears an ID tag, because sometimes they get loose. How many times have you seen signs saying "Lost Dog" or "Lost Cat?"

Furthermore, buying pets from pet shops perpetuates animal abuse and inhumane treatment because most of these animals come from puppy or kitty mills. Animals in these mills live in horrendus conditions which make them sick and they may suffer from serious afflictions and receive no medical care. Consequently, animals living under these conditions may develop behavioral problems and it's the unsuspecting consumer who pays. There are many reputable animal shelters and rescue organizations that offer a wide variety of healthy, happy, pure and mixed breeds, from puppies and kittens to older animals that are waiting to be adopted to a loving home and would make great pets. Check out our Pet Adoptions & Fostering and Links pages for great adoption resources.

In addition, if your pet isn't "fixed," you may consider this important decision. It is healthier, they are less aggressive, and are less likely to escape, roam and "mark" their territories by urinating on everything. Did you know that millions of dogs and cats get put to death each year because of overpopulation? There are simply not enough homes for them all and unfortunately many healthy loving animals are destroyed.
Be part of the solution, not the problem, by spaying or neutering your pet.

Our pets rely on us to be their caretakers and to make decisions in their best interest. Companion animals, like people, need proper nutrition, exercise, playtime, and regular medical exams and vaccinations against deadly or debilitating diseases. Pets should always be current on shots; you may get sued if your pet bites someone or their pet. Some illnesses are even transmitted to humans. If you are thinking of getting a new pet or know someone who is, please encourage them SAVE a life and ADOPT a pet. Please share this information with them.
